Taking care of our eyes, the windows to our soul as they’re called, is an art in itself. Bilberry

Bilberry or Vaccinium myrtillus contains powerful antioxidant flavonoids called anthocyanins. It is used for treating cataracts and other such conditions in the retina. Apart from being beneficial for the eyes, it is also helps treat people with diabetes, osteoarthritis, kidney diseases, etc. Bilberry is said to improve not just your normal vision but also your night vision. They can be made into jams or had in the form of an extract. 

Fennel Seeds

Our eyes are one of the most sensitive organs in the body and contact with an allergen can cause them to become puffy, red, and irritated. A fennel seed eye rinse helps with soothing the eyes in such cases. Fennel has anti-inflammatory properties that helps relieve pain and sensitivity. To prepare this rinse, take two tablespoons of fennel seeds and add it to a glass of hot water. Strain out the fennel seeds once it has cooled, soak a couple of cotton balls in the water and place one over each eyelid. This will help soothe the irritation. 

Ginkgo Biloba

Used to improve circulation, especially around the back of the eye, gingko biloba is one of the most oldest remedies for the eye. Packed with strong antioxidant anti-oxidant properties, it ensures the flow of adequate blood supply to the eye. This powerful herb is also used in glaucoma and macular degeneration, and helps to improve both of these conditions.

Passionflower Extract

Passionflower extract is known to be a great herb for strained eyes. It helps in preventing eye irritation and also works by relaxing the nerves. Soaking cotton balls in a mixture of passionflower extract and warm water and pressing them against your eyes will sooth the strain on your eyes and relax the nerves.
